The client liked the storage this piece offered, but wanted a softer look in her family room that was dominated by leather pieces. After much trial and error, she found fabric she could work with - a French script print on cotton. However, she found the background color to be too light for her room, so we went looking for ideas. I found a dye that could be processed in the washing machine (iDye) and went for it! Here is the result...
We dressed it up with grosgrain ribbon trim and knife pleats in a ticking stripe (also dyed). The cover lifts off easily to access the storage underneath. I added a layer of quilt batting under the top to minimize the tufting and cover the wear.
We also did a few pillows to spread the new fabric around the room. My client found a few styles she liked on Pinterest, so I tried to incorporate some of those ideas.
It was fun to put the three fabrics together in different ways. And now she has a new look for her family room (just in time for Christmas)!
